How to Secure Your Home: Protect your Belongings and Loved Ones
We should feel safe and secure in our home. It doesn’t matter if we’re inside or outside. We should have peace of mind knowing that it’s safe from intruders, robbers and other criminals.
Remember the days when you can leave your front door open and not have to worry about someone breaking in? Unfortunately, times have changed nowadays. That feeling of security even inside the home is long gone, along with peace of mind.
Fortunately, there are things that you can do to secure your home. With our help at G Cube Design and Build, we can design and build a secure home.
Home Security Tips
Here are some home security tips that can help secure your home:
- Put up a fence.
This helps keep intruders and even pests out. Basically, the fence lets people know that it’s private property. It’s also a deterrent.
Don’t make the mistake of turning your property into Alcatraz, though. The fence still has to be beautiful so you don’t get this feeling that you’re in jail.

- Use secure locks.
A lot of people choose the cheapest locks that they can find. This is a mistake. Invest in top-of-the line locks. Add a deadbolt lock for every main door.
Make sure to also use secure locks for the windows. Yes, even for the windows on upper floors.
- Use grills.
Grills are used to secure windows. They can look ugly. They can also look nice if designed well. The important thing is you can open it from the inside so you don’t get trapped in case of a fire.
- Install a security system.
Installing CCTVs is a good start. Criminals will think twice when they see the cameras. After all, they wouldn’t want to be in the nighttime news.
You can also invest in a security alarm. It’s the quickest way to send them scampering when they hear the alarm.
- Make sure that your landscape is well-lighted.
Criminals use the cover of darkness. Take that away from them.
- Take out blind spots.
This is another reason why it’s a good idea to hire a good architect for your home design. We know that security is a top concern so we make sure that there are no blind spots.
- Get a dog.
Dogs serve as another alarm. They don’t have to be a big and scary one. The dog can just serve as your security alarm that will start barking when they see or sense someone that shouldn’t be there.
Basically, it’s all about adding several layers of security. If they see that you have several security measures in place, they’ll just move on to an easier target.
